Who are we looking for?

We are looking for a talented Senior Legal Counsel who combines strong legal expertise with people leadership skills, business curiosity and a pragmatic mindset. In this role, you will act as a trusted legal partner for the business, lead a small team of Legal Counsels and contribute to shaping a modern Legal & Compliance function within Brussels Airlines and the Lufthansa Group. • Lead, coordinate and support a team of Legal Counsels, ensuring clear priorities, ownership and timely delivery of legal support
• Act as a first point of escalation for complex legal questions and sensitive matters
• Provide clear, pragmatic and commercially sound legal advice on a broad range of topics, including commercial law, contract law, consumer protection, aviation law and regulatory matters
• Support senior stakeholders on strategic projects and cross-functional initiatives with legal, financial or reputational impact
• Oversee, review and negotiate national and international contracts across all areas of the airline’s operations
• Manage disputes, claims, investigations and litigation, including coordination of external counsel
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of legal processes, templates and ways of working
• Collaborate closely within the Lufthansa Group legal community and support alignment with Group standards

Where do you land?

You’ll be part of the Legal & Compliance Department, a team that goes beyond legal support and acts as a true business partner to the company.
You will report directly to the Head of Legal & Compliance.

Your profile

• Master’s degree in law
• 3 to 5 years of experience as a lawyer at a reputable law firm and/or as in-house counsel in an international company
• Experience in aviation, transport, regulated industries or complex commercial environments is a strong asset
• Previous experience in coordinating, supervising or mentoring others is a strong asset
• Strong legal judgement and ability to advise on complex matters with limited supervision
• Excellent stakeholder management, communication and drafting skills
• Commercially minded, solution-oriented and comfortable balancing legal risk with business objectives
• Strong sense of ownership, resilience and organisational skills
• Interest in legal operations, process improvement and digitalisation
• Fluent in English; knowledge of Dutch, French or German is a strong asset
