Who are we looking for?
We are looking for a Fatigue Risk Manager who will take ownership of our Fatigue Risk Management (FRM/FRMS) framework and ensure it is robust, compliant and truly embedded in the way we operate. In this role, you are the go-to expert for fatigue-related safety risks, working closely with Flight Operations, Maintenance & Engineering, Safety Management and many other internal partners. You act as a trusted advisor, translating fatigue science and operational data into meaningful safety improvements that protect our people and our operation.

- FRMS Governance & Framework
- Ensures an effective, compliant, and continuously improving Fatigue Risk Management System (FRMS).
- Maintains accurate and up-to-date FRMS documentation integrated within operational and safety management systems.
- Ensures alignment between FRMS, Safety Management System (SMS), and regulatory requirements.
- Applies fatigue risk management principles using safety processes, fatigue science, and operational experience.
- Oversees consistent implementation and coordination of FRMS processes across operations.
- Monitors fatigue-related safety concerns, regulatory updates, and industry best practices.
- Proposes and escalates mitigation measures and process improvements where required.
- Fatigue Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment & Safety Performance
- Coordinates and manages activities of the Fatigue Safety Action Group (FSAG).
- Conducts fatigue surveys and studies to support a data-driven FRMS approach.
- Identifies, assesses, documents, and monitors fatigue-related risks and mitigation measures.
- Performs safety audits and monitors corrective actions through trend analysis and safety indicators.
- Ensures continuous monitoring of fatigue safety performance within operational shift-work environments.
- Supports the analysis and investigation of fatigue-related incidents and occurrence reports.
- Ensures lessons learned are integrated into continuous FRMS improvement initiatives.
- Training, Awareness & Communication
- Coordinates and oversees fatigue management training programs in line with organizational and regulatory requirements.
- Develops and maintains FRMS communication and awareness initiatives.
- Manages coordination and communication with authorities and external stakeholders regarding FRMS matters.
- Reporting & Management Information
- Prepares periodic and ad-hoc fatigue safety performance reports.
- Provides management with relevant data and insights to support decision-making and continuous improvement initiatives.

Where do you land?
You’ll be part of the Safety Management environment, working closely with Flight Operations, Maintenance & Engineering, Crew Planning, Training and Compliance Monitoring, while acting as the focal point for fatigue-related matters within Brussels Airlines.
The Fatigue Risk Manager reports to the Safety Manager and has direct emergency access to the Nominated Person Flight Operations and the Head of Maintenance & Engineering.
Your profile

- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent through experience
- At least 4 years of experience in an aviation environment
- Profound knowledge of Safety Management Systems (SMS)
- Good knowledge of EU OPS regulations, with basic knowledge of Part-CAMO and Part-145
- Knowledge of fatigue science, working patterns, sleep and nutrition
- Familiarity with ICAO standards and European FRMS requirements
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently across the organisation
- Ethical, discreet, tactful and objective in dealing with people
- Good knowledge of English, Dutch and French (reading and writing) is an asset
