Who are we looking for?
We are looking for a Data Engineer to join our team, which is company-wide responsible to provide end-to-end data solutions. In this role, you will take the lead in shaping and driving Data Engineering within the team, setting standards, guiding best practices, and acting as the go-to expert for data architecture and pipeline design. You will cooperate intensively with Business Intelligence Analysts and business stakeholders from all areas (Commercial to Operations). The ability to think along with different stakeholders and being solution-oriented, are key assets within this role. Together with the team, you will aim to increase the level of Data Analytics across the different company areas to achieve a high impact on decision-making, and therefore play a vital role in the future success of the company.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead projects: Lead end-to-end data engineering projects, including planning, coordination and execution, to ensure the timely delivery of data solutions.
- Build Data Pipelines: Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines that ingest, transform, and store large volumes of data using DataBricks, DBT, Git, and Azure DevOps.
- Develop Data Models: Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand their requirements and develop data models that fit within the overall data architecture, ensuring that they effectively support business reporting, analysis, and decision-making processes.
- Integrate Data: Perform data integration from a variety of sources (cloud platforms, databases, APIs, etc.).
- Maintain and Improve Data Architecture: Take responsibility for the continuous maintenance and optimization of the data architecture. Identify opportunities to improve performance, data quality, and efficiency within the architecture.
- Documentation and Governance: Maintain thorough documentation of data pipelines, models, ingestion processes, and architectural design. Apply strong data governance practices, implementing frameworks to ensure high data quality, security, and compliance.
- Improvement and Innovation: Proactively evaluate current processes, identifying opportunities for improvement. Continuously evaluate and introduce new technologies and tools to enhance the data engineering processes.
- Incident Management: Troubleshoot and resolve data-related issues across the pipelines and workflows, ensuring minimal disruption to business users.

Within our Finance, Controlling & BI department, the Business Intelligence team ensures that the company’s data is collected, transformed, and governed in a consistent, reliable, and scalable way. We provide a unified and trusted view of enterprise data, enabling transparent insights that support informed decision-making across all departments.
As part of this team, we empower business units to own their last-mile analytics while partnering closely to co-develop complex, high-impact data solutions. We continuously improve and modernize our data landscape, leveraging advanced technologies to turn data into actionable insights and measurable business impact.
Your profile

- A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent through experience in a data engineering role.
- 5 years of relevant data experience as a Data Engineer, Software Engineer, or similar role with a strong focus on data infrastructure.
- Proficiency in DataBricks, DBT, Git, and Azure DevOps.
- Strong programming skills in languages such as Python or SQL.
- Deep understanding of data architecture principles, including data pipelines, data workflows, data warehouses, and analytical models.
- Ability to understand business requirements and translate them into actionable data solutions.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of explaining technical concepts to both technical and non-technical teams.
- Strong project management and organizational skills: being able to organize own work, as well as projects of a bigger scope.
- Action oriented with a positive and solution oriented attitude. Eye for sustainable solutions is key.
- Team player and positive influencer with motivational skills.
- Experience with Agile methodology is considered a plus
- Proficiency in BI tools, dashboard and report design (Spotfire, Tableau, Power BI, etc.) is considered a plus.
- Very good English verbal and written skills. Dutch and/or French is a plus.
